The students of the Technical Institute for Geometrics “Sereni” in Afragola witnessed live the operational activities of the Department. The Glistudenti were welcomed by the Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Cannas, who gave them a warm welcome in a Department that “It is at the service of the citizens”Active part of“a state that exists in the school and in the commitment of the teachers, as well as in the efficiency and effectiveness of the 22nd Gr.R.A.M., the Armed Forces and the Air Force”.
The students were presented with the organization and institutional tasks of the Air Force, the operational activities of the 22nd Radar Group, and the competitive admission procedures for the Armed Forces. The same students then saw live the operational activities of the Department, for which they showed great participation and surprising enthusiasm. The Air Force ensures the surveillance of the national airspace 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, with an integrated defense system, even during peacetime, along with that of the other countries belonging to NATO. The service is guaranteed – for the surveillance part, identification and control – by the Radar Groups of Poggio Renatico (FE), Poggio Ballone (GR) and Licola (NA) and – regarding the intervention in flight – by the 4th Squadron (GR), the 36th Squadron (BA) and the 37th Squadron (TP), all equipped with Eurofighter fighter aircraft.
