The students of the 16th normal course have completed the course of familiarization with survival techniques in the mountains. This year the course was divided into two sessions – the first from February 3 to 5, the other from February 10 to 12 – to which, divided into groups, the students of the 16th normal course participated.
Each session was developed with a recovery activity using a helicopter winch, a paratrooper aircraft, and a field exercise with a night bivouac.
The activities were carried out with the support of personnel from the Pozzuoli Academy and the 15th Squadron of Cervia, for the recovery and subsequent helicopter landing through a HH3F helicopter from the 85th SAR (Search and Rescue) center in Pratica di Mare (RM) and a HH-139 from the 83rd SAR Group of Cervia.
The professionalism and commitment of the staff employed proved once again to be crucial to the successful outcome of the operations.
“We are now at the third course of familiarization.”– stated Colonel Eugenio Rovazzani, Commander of the A.M. Marshal School/Airfield Command – “And every time I see the enthusiasm of the attendees for this activity that puts them in contact with a dynamic and extremely operational reality; the course, although conducted according to a concise program and with extremely low costs, represents an added value in the educational growth of the students and lays the first foundations for the development of a deep operational awareness in the future Marshals of the Italian Air Force.“.
