The students carried out a training internship at the Center for Geopgraphic and Aeronautical Information.
After being welcomed by the Director, Colonel Pierluigi Grimaldi, who reminded them of the period in which he attended the Academy with the course “Aquila IV”, the two students participated in an informative briefing of the Center and visited all the components that make up the Department during the course of the day.
Specifically, they visited the newly established Group for Operational Image Analysis (GR.A.I.O.), whose staff specializes in the analysis of images and videos captured by both satellite airborne sensors, as well as the press room, where both the cartography and aeronautical publications entrusted to the C.I.G.A. are produced.
Subsequently, the two students visited the laboratory of the project “Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program” (M.G.C.P), which acquires geospatial information on sensitive areas of the planet. They then assisted in the real-time design of the Instrument Flight Procedures, under the direction of the Airspace and Procedures Service, and at the Geotopographic Processing Service, they were shown all the Official Cartography published by the C.I.G.A., as the State Cartographic Authority. At the conclusion of the day, the two students expressed appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity granted to them.
