The 61st Air Wing hosted the gathering of the three courses on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of enlistment in the Air Force
The rally participants wanted to commemorate the Military Pilot’s Certificate obtained at the then Basic Initial Flight School Aviogetti (S.V.B.I.A.) on the T-6 “Texan” and MB-326 aircraft.
Welcomed by Colonel Sergio Cavuoti, Commander of the 61st Wing, the gatherers, after attending the Mass officiated by the Military Chaplain of the Base, laid a wreath at the Monument of the Renaissance in honor of the Fallen. Subsequently, in the Magna Aula, Colonel Cavuoti welcomed the guests by explaining the activities of the Wing and highlighting how the 61st Wing has long been a niche of excellence within the Armed Forces, also thanks to the growth and internationalization process of the Flight School.
The visit also involved the “Representation and Elaboration System” (R.E.S.) Room of the 212th Group, where the gatherers were able to appreciate the modern debriefing tools at the end of a training mission, the flight simulators and the static display of the MB-339 A and MB-339 CD aircraft.
The gathering then concluded with the traditional exchange of souvenirs.
The primary mission of the 61st Wing is to provide advanced flight training on aerobatics aircraft for student pilots in order to obtain the Military Pilot Certificate. At the Flight School, advanced training courses for military pilots and navigators intended for operational use on fighter aircraft are also held, as well as the qualification and certification courses for all aerobatics flight instructors of the Armed Forces.
