The important document establishes the ATS operational procedures to be applied between the Wing and ENAV ACC Rome. The signing of the agreement follows the establishment, in February, of the controlled airspace designated CTR (Control Zone) – which encompasses almost all of the Ciociara territory – within which ATS services are provided to all military and civilian aircraft by the 72nd Wing.
These procedures are supplementary to those specified in National and International Regulations and were published in AIP Italy (Aeronautical Information Publication) with effect from 26 June 2014.
Raising the quality of Air Traffic Services provided at Frosinone Airport and revisiting the ATS geography were the objectives that the 72nd Wing had been pursuing for some time, also in light of the assignment of new UH 139 helicopters to the Department.
The 72nd Wing, which is under the command of the Schools Command/3rd Air Region of Bari, is the only Flight School in Italy for all the Armed Forces and State Armed Corps, which is responsible for the training of helicopter pilots, as well as, when required, providing assistance to the population in the event of a disaster or particular emergency.
ENAV, based in Rome and with operational centres across the entire national territory, is the company to which the State delegates the management and control of civil air traffic in Italy.
The company directly provides air traffic management and control services, ensuring the highest technical and system standards in flight safety.
