The bilateral meeting allowed for the sharing of training methodologies from the selection phase to tactical training. On this occasion, the Peruvian delegation carried out a familiarisation visit to the 46th Air Brigade in Pisa. At the CAE (Crew Training Centre), in particular, the simulator for the C-27J aircraft, a recently acquired aircraft by the Latin American country, generated great interest.
On the same day, the delegation also visited the 61st Wing in Lecce, where they saw the main facilities connected to flight operations: the MB339 simulators, the Aircraft Efficiency Group hangar, and the R.E.S. (Representation and Elaboration System) room, a system that allows for the automated and computerised reconstruction of complex flight mission dynamics. The delegation showed particular interest in the sophisticated integrated functional training system for the T-346 ITS aircraft, Italy's latest-generation “trainer”.
Wednesday 2nd July also saw a bilateral meeting held at the Italian Air Force Staff's meeting room, attended by Colonel Luigi Levante, Head of the 4th Office for International Air Policy of the 3rd Department, in his capacity as head of the Italian delegation.
The meeting was considered very satisfactory by both parties as training opportunities that the Italian Air Force can offer were shared through the provision of piloting courses tailored to the employment of future FAP pilots in complex contexts, linked to the particular morphology of the South American country.
The cordial and friendly climate in which the meeting proceedings took place has helped to further solidify the good ties between the two Air Forces and has laid an excellent foundation for future activities of mutual interest. Peru is, in fact, an important country in the region, whose interest in engaging with overseas countries can help export Italian capabilities and professionalism for the benefit of the entire country system.
