On Friday 27th May, awards were presented to the three best projects, produced by students from the ‘E. Majorana’ scientific institute in Guidonia. The ceremony was experienced by the pupils, parents, guests, and all the attending civil and military authorities in a climate of great emotion and participation, in memory of Roberto and in the hope of a sustainable world.
Major Giontella was born in Rome in 1961. After his scientific high school diploma, he entered the aeronautical world at a very young age, becoming a meteorologist officer. He served at the 51st Wing in Istrana (Treviso) from where he was then transferred to the 5th Wing in Cervia (Ravenna), where, in his role as Head of the Weather Section, he received a medal from NATO for services rendered in international operations. Subsequently, he was transferred to the National Centre for Aeronautical Meteorology (CNMCA) in Pratica di Mare (Rome), where he was designated for the national dissemination of meteorological information on national television and radio.
