The Commander of the Joint Operational Command (COI) met with the personnel of the 46th Air Brigade.
General Cornacchione was received by Air Brigadier General Vincenzo Parma, Commander of Mobility and Support Forces, and Air Brigadier General Aurelio Colagrande, representing the Commander of the 46th Air Brigade, Air Brigadier General Stefano Fort.
Following an update on the Brigade's numerous activities, the COI Commander met with the men and women of the 46th Air Brigade.“The reason for my visit here, today- General Magpie said – is essentially to express to you, in person, our sincere thanks for what you do for the Armed Forces day after day, often in ways that are not obvious. Know that your contribution is felt to be decisive, and we are all aware that it is the result of the dedication and professionalism of each of you.”General Cornacchione, who recalled some professional experiences that personally link him to the Brigade, remembered the fallen of the “46th” who, through their sacrifice, have marked the history of the Unit over the years.
During the visit, the Commander of the Joint Operations Command (COI) visited the Crew Training Centre, spending time at the C-130J and C-27J flight simulators. He also visited the new passenger terminal and met with the personnel responsible for the Aircraft Efficiency Group in one of the hangars dedicated to aircraft maintenance. The COI is the structure of the Defence Staff through which the Chief of Defence Staff, responsible for the deployment of the Armed Forces as a whole, plans, prepares and directs operations, as well as joint and multinational exercises, often utilising the C-130J and C-27J aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade. The 46th Air Brigade ensures strategic and tactical air transport for missions within and outside national borders, urgent medical transport, medical evacuation by air, and the transport of materials, personnel, and equipment worldwide, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through three Flying Groups: the 2nd, the 50th, and the 98th.
