At the 17th Assault Wing of the Italian Air Force, the aspiring assault pilots have taken part in the first phase of selection. The 12 military personnel who passed the first phase will soon be engaged in another equally selective process, lasting approximately 14 months, consisting of the BIAM course (Basic Course for the Assault Pilots of the Italian Air Force), conducted at the 17th Assault Wing by the Assault Pilots Instructors from Furbara.
Great motivation and a spirit of sacrifice will be essential for the new recruits, given the special nature and the delicate nature of the duties performed by the personnel of the Special Forces.
Every year, the Directorate for the Employment of Military Personnel issues a recruitment notice for commissioned officers; the search, which takes place among the ranks of military personnel already in service, is directed at personnel aged no more than 32 years, in the following roles: Officers, Role of the Standard or Special Weapons in SPE, Marshals, any category/specialty, Sergeants, any category/specialty, Regular troops in active duty, in any category/specialty, as well as VFP4 upon completion of at least the first year of service.
