As part of the knowledge-sharing cycle of the employee departments, General Roberto Nordio visited the ‘Diavoli Rossi’. Received by Colonel Francesco Vestito, Commander of the 6th Stormo, General Nordio then attended an explanatory briefing of the Stormo containing a general overview of the Department, the main problems/criticalities with related solutions, areas of excellence and elements of innovation. Subsequently, General Nordio held a meeting with the USAF component of the 704th MunitionsSupport Squadron (MUNSS) present at Ghedi base, with the representatives of the Base Representation Committee (CO.BA.R.) and the Unified Trade Union Representation (R.S.U.). Following this, a visit was made to the various components of the Department, including the three Flight Groups that are part of the Stormo (102, 154 and 156), the G.E.A. (Aerobilefficiency Group), the S.T.O. (Technical Operations Group) and the S.L.O. (Operational Logistics Group). General Nordio then witnessed a joint training exercise by the Italian and American security forces. The event, illustrated by the Commander of the 704th MUNSS during the execution phase, made it possible to observe the high degree of cooperation and interoperability between the national and American sides. The day concluded with a meeting with all personnel at the aircraft hangar of the Aeromobili Efficiency Group. General Nordio, in his remarks, emphasized “the great pleasure in returning to the Squadron, which he commanded in the two-year period 1999-2001; a flagship of the Air Force that on every occasion reached the assigned tasks with dedication and professionalism”. Referring to the current international economic situation, General Nordio pointed out that “there is a need to rationalize spending, optimize resources, and team up even more”. At the end of the visit, General Nordio, after the traditional signing of the Honor Roll, expressed his appreciation for the welcome received and expressed his utmost satisfaction with the contribution that the Department is providing within the framework of the “Unified Protector” operation.
