The Logistic Command Support Services Team, led by Colonel Spaziani, carried out an introductory visit to the 64th AM Territorial Depot in Porto Santo Stefano.
These activities, as “internal control” actions for each organisational structure of the Logistic Command, are carried out to continuously verify the effectiveness of the Command's action, at all levels. The visits are indeed aimed at verifying both the effectiveness of the Command's action in achieving assigned objectives, and the correctness of conduct with regard to current regulations and procedures in all sectors of the Bodies' activities, as well as the correct use of personnel, management of resources, materials, and infrastructure, identifying any areas that require intervention or individual problems to be resolved. The Team, led by Colonel Spaziani, Head of the 3rd Office of the Support Service Department, was composed of experts in the fields of Safety and Environmental Protection, Command, Administration and Commissariat, Motorization, P.O.L., Firefighting, Telecommunications, Works and State Property, and M.S.A. Upon arrival at Porto Santo Stefano, the Logistic Command personnel were welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Luigi Bigi, Commander of the 64th Depot, who, during the briefing presenting the Department, illustrated its organisation, institutional tasks, and achievements, then introducing his direct collaborators and the specific sector sheets subject to verification.
Following the briefing, the experts' activity commenced. For the subsequent two days, accompanied by their respective 64th Depot area managers, they conducted an analysis of various sectors of interest, also delving into methodologies, work tools, and managerial and operational procedures.
The final day of work was attended by Brigadier General Giuseppe Li Causi, Head of the Support Service, accompanied by Colonel Ciniglio Appiani, Head of the Service Department, and Colonel Grassi, Commander of the Fiumicino Air Force Technical Supply Centre. General Li Causi inspected the Entity's infrastructure, at the Porto Santo Stefano site, the Air Force Pier and the Albinia Detachment, in order to ascertain the progress of the modernisation and infrastructural and plant adjustment works that have affected the Depot over the last three years.
Afterwards, General Li Causi, together with the Unit Commander and his colleagues, attended the final de-briefing of the visit by Colonel Spaziani, during which the individual Team members' reports were presented and some points for reflection that emerged during the visit were highlighted.
At the end of the debriefing, Lieutenant Colonel Bigi, thanking the Team for the authoritative guidance provided, presented General Li Causi with a never-before-seen example of the Unit's Crest.
In affixing his signature to the Roll of Honour, General Li Causi expressed his appreciation for the level of efficiency and functionality observed, highlighting the merits of the military and civilian personnel who operated with professionalism, commitment, and utmost availability, thereby enabling the achievement of flattering results in a short period of time.
The 64th Territorial Depot of the Air Force is part of the Support Services of the Logistic Command, directly subordinate to the Fiumicino Supply Technical Centre, with the tasks of managing, receiving, shipping and distributing aviation fuel to the Armed Forces' Flying Units.
