The Italian Language Course for Foreign Military Personnel at the School of Foreign Languages of the Italian Air Force has concluded in Loreto. The participants acquired the Italian language skills necessary to continue their training at the Italian Military Academies of the Army, Air Force and Navy, where they will complete the relevant training provided by international agreements. The Jordanian participants, for the first time since about three years ago when SLEAM began organizing Italian language courses, were able to study through a “blended” format. The “blended” course format involves attending a first part of the course in e-learning, entirely online through the SLEAM platform, for the learning of an initial level of the language, and a second phase in class during their stay in Loreto. This method was in fact borrowed from the English courses provided for the Italian personnel of the Air Force, in order to meet the increased demand for knowledge of the language and the concomitant need to contain the costs of the educational offer. At the end of the Italian course, the country profiles were very appreciated; these were real panels created in Italian by all the participants as a double and tangible sign of remembrance of their countries of origin and as a tangible sign of learning the Italian language.
This activity is part of the linguistic training program of SLEAM, whose mission includes the provision of foreign language courses, both face-to-face and via e-learning, and the assessment of knowledge of these languages. The teaching is primarily aimed at meeting the linguistic training needs of personnel of the Italian Air Force in the specific areas of Aviation English, as a Center for “Aviation English Testing” for the training and certification of I.C.A.O. (International Civil Aviation Organization) personnel, and for use outside national borders. To complement this educational offer, there are also Italian courses for foreign military personnel, also in face-to-face and e-learning mode, as well as English language courses for other Armed Forces and Departments. All this in line with the regulations issued by the Supreme Command of the Italian Air Force and the Command of the Schools of the Italian Air Force.
