Wednesday 24 September, at the 136th Remote Radar Squadron of Otranto (LE), the change of command ceremony for the Squadron took place between Major Omar Vito Napoli, outgoing Commander, and the Captain Carmen Mascara, Incoming Commander.
The event, chaired by Commander of the 4th Telecommunications and DA/AV Systems Brigade of Borgo Piave, Brigadier General Giacomo Ghiglierio, The attendance of the main military, civilian, and religious authorities of the territory was seen, as well as the Air Force Association branches, whose presence made the moment even more significant.
In his farewell speech, the Greater Naples, _, who is leaving the command of the Squadron after three years, in reflecting on the most significant moments and the milestones achieved, expressed words of thanks to his personnel: “You have constantly supported me, both in achieving the mission assigned by the Armed Forces and in all the public relations and representation activities that have been conducted synergistically with other military and civilian bodies in the area”.
It Captain Mascara, upon taking the floor, thanked Gen. B. Ghiglierio and the Superior Authorities for the trust placed in him, assuring that he
It General Ghiglierio, in his speech he stressed the importance of the ceremony: “SI am proud to take part in this event, which sees a woman officer, for the very first time, taking command of a Radar Squadron. Beyond this particular aspect, it is nonetheless an important moment for an Italian Air Force officer and for the institution to which they belong. It is a “transition” that guarantees change and, certainly, through new stimuli, leads to continuous improvement for both the organisation and the individual themselves.”Continuing his speech, he then expressed his sincere appreciation for the work carried out by the outgoing Commander: “You have been able, with your effective command and with the indispensable support of your staff, to achieve results of absolute excellence.”. Addressing the incoming Commander, he wished him a: “…a period full of satisfaction from a professional and, above all, human point of view. You can always count on my support and that of the entire Brigade to face any difficulty and obstacle that may arise.”.
The 136th Otranto Remote Radar Squadron is under the responsibility of 4th Telecommunications and Systems Brigade for D.A./A.V. in Borgo Piave, the main structure of 3Logistics Command Division. The Department fulfils its institutional duties of maintaining the operational efficiency of the National/NATO Air Defence radar systems and the communications systems provided.
