The air show featured civilian and military aerobatic aircraft, as well as those of the Italian Air Force, putting on around three hours of aerial displays. To mark the air show, RAI, for the ninth consecutive year, broadcast the event live on television from 4.00 pm to 6.45 pm on Rai Uno, and from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm on the digital terrestrial channel RaiSport 1. Television viewing figures also recorded high levels, with an average share of 11.50%, equivalent to approximately 1.3 million viewers. Particularly significant was the figure of around 6.7 million total viewers who tuned in to Rai Uno for the event. The Italian Air Force took part in the Air Show with the HH-139 helicopter from the 15th CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) Wing in Cervia (Ravenna), alongside Eurofighter, AM-X, C-27J, MB-339 and Tornado aircraft from the Experimental Flight Unit at Pratica di Mare (Rome), as well as the ‘Frecce Tricolori’ National Aerobatic Team, which kept the approximately 700,000 spectators lining the Jesolo (Venice) seafront gazing skywards. For the first time, Rai broadcast exclusive live coverage for the entire duration of the air show, featuring footage captured in flight by the ‘Predator’ unmanned aerial vehicle from the 32nd Wing at Amendola (FG), which added a special highlight to the live television broadcast. Other displays that attracted great interest were those by the Swiss aerobatic team (PC-7 Team), the French Patrouille de France, an F-16 from the Belgian Air Force, a Super Puma from the Swiss Air Force, a Gripen from the Hungarian Air Force, an M346 from Alenia Aermacchi and an Italian Breitling Extra 300. As part of the event, the 51st Wing based at Istrana (Treviso) ensured the success of the air show by providing both the necessary support for the redeployment of all aircraft taking part in the Air Show – both military and civilian – and the management of air traffic in close coordination with the civilian authorities at Venice Airport.
