Wednesday 6 April, Gen. S.A. Bernardis was welcomed upon his arrival by Gen. B.A. Fort, Commander of the Pisa Air Brigade. The Chief of Staff, during his speech, addressing the men and women of the 46th directly, expressed his personal appreciation for “what the Brigade is doing and how it is doing it” referring in particular to the recent repatriation operation of our compatriots in the early stages of the crisis in North Africa.
General Bernardis also wished to inform all the personnel of the Wing that, at every level, the operational capability of the 46th Air Brigade is highly regarded, highlighting how, not just in Pisa, the Air Force can rely on aircraft and personnel trained to the standard of the best armed forces in the world, thus managing to balance the financial crisis with the human element, which in the Air Force is proving to be up to expectations. The Chief of Staff also dwelled on the importance of the interconnection between the operational and decision-making levels and concluded by urging “to continue with equal commitment to remain at the forefront of credibility towards the country”. Previously, the Commander of the 46th Air Brigade, Air Brigadier General Stefano Fort, while illustrating to the Chief of Staff the training effort undertaken by the Wing and the results achieved in acquiring multiple operational capabilities, had stressed how “the level of training achieved has been fundamental to optimally accomplishing the assigned missions”.
