A contingent from the Brindisi Airport Detachment participated in the event organised to remember Melissa Bassi, who was killed at just 16 years old in the bombing on 19th May 2012. In addition to the team from the Air Force Airport Detachment of Brindisi, teams from the Penitentiary Police and Magistrates, Municipal Police, Lawyers, the Guardia di Finanza, the United Nations, the State Police, the San Marco Marine Brigade, and the Firefighters, who won the 1st Memorial held last year, also took part in the event.
The regulations provided for the awarding of some scholarships, named after the missing student, to students of the school institute paired with the winning team. The awards ceremony will take place during an event scheduled for Wednesday 28 May, at 10:00 AM, at the Nuovo Teatro “G.Verdi” in Brindisi.
The Detachment team, after reaching the semi-finals by winning 2-0 against the Guardia di Finanza and drawing 2-2 against the Penitentiary Police, were defeated on penalties by the State Police team, finishing in 3rd place.
In the final, the Fire Brigade team won the memorial for the second time, beating the State Police.
