The medals that make up the collection are housed in the hall of Palazzo AM in Rome. The collection is the result of a donation by Maestro Luciano Zanelli to the Air Force. Every year, the Roman artist enriches it with new issues commissioned by the Commands, Bodies, Departments and Schools of the Italian Air Force.
The most recently produced medal, in chronological order, is that of the “Pegasus V” course at the Air Force Academy in Pozzuoli.
Through the collection, Maestro Zanelli recounts the history of the Armed Force, from Nobile's polar expeditions to Balbo's flights across the Atlantic, from Agello's seaplane speed records to the tours of the Frecce Tricolori, via the activities of the Experimental Flight Department at Pratica di Mare (RM).
