A child, in imminent danger of death, travelled on board an aircraft from the 31st Wing of the Air Force.
This afternoon, the Emergency medical transport of a baby approximately 1 year old on the route Alghero-Rome, carried out with an aircraft G650 of the Italian Air Force.
The young patient, suffering from a severe condition and in imminent danger of death, needed to be transferred Of’Urgency from the University Hospital of Sassari to the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome.
Specifically, the newborn travelled inside the aircraft constantly monitored e Assisted from an’medical team with his mother. Activities of this kind, for the benefit of the citizens, are among the institutional tasks carried out by the Air Force. The life jacket has been activated, at the request of the Prefecture of Sassari, by the Top Situations Room of the Italian Air Force, subordinate to the Air Squad Command in Milan, which immediately interested the 31st Wing, one of the Departments that provides the service on Readiness operating for this kind of mission.
The flight, as is the case for this type of activity, was authorised by the Prime Minister's Office, which manages and coordinates the activities of the State aircraft fleet.
All necessary procedures for immediate take-off were carried out. The aircraft took to the skies this afternoon from Rome Ciampino Airport, landing in Alghero. Here, the young patient was immediately boarded onto the G650 for an urgent transfer back to Rome Ciampino Airport, where a’Ambulance he was waiting for it to facilitate the next Admission in the Roman hospital.
The Air Force Flying Squadrons are available to the public. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ...with means and crews capable of operating, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of losing their lives, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances.
Hundreds of flight hours are carried out each year for this type of intervention by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, from 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade in Pisa and from the helicopters of the 15th Wing in Cervia.
