For the year 2012 as well, the 2nd Wing of Rivolto (UD) was one of the Air Force's recruitment centres. The 74 participants, divided between 17 girls and 57 boys, aged between 18 and 30 years, lived as real soldiers from 27 August to 14 September, attending lessons and taking part in practical exercises. The programme, structured over three weeks full of activities, included both classroom sessions, during which the “recruits” gained a theoretical understanding of the organisation and institutional duties of the Air Force, and practical training sessions, to experience first-hand the various activities the Armed Force's professionals carry out on a daily basis.
The participants thereby experienced camouflage techniques, took part in a fire drill, and witnessed close-up simulations of military pilots being rescued from aircraft following an accident.
At the end of the three weeks at Rivolto Airport, the young people were able to gain a clear and informed understanding of the activities of the Italian Air Force personnel, increasing their own wealth of human experience and knowledge that is also useful in everyday life.
