A 12-day-old newborn, in imminent danger of life, was urgently transferred from Cagliari to Milan on board a Gulfstream G-650A of the 31st Wing of Ciampino. The medical flight was activated by the Summit Situations Room of the Air Force Staff following a request from the Prefecture of Cagliari. The aircraft reached the military airport of Milan-Linate, where the tiny patient was handed over to medical personnel for subsequent admission to the San Donato Milanese hospital, a specialised centre for the necessary care. Through these interventions, the Air Force confirms its role in serving the community, guaranteeing professional and rapid vital support for those in emergency situations.

Today's flight, as is usual for this type of activity, was authorised by the Prime Minister's Office, which manages and coordinates the State aircraft fleet. The Italian Air Force's flight departments are available to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with aircraft and crews capable of operating even in complex weather conditions. They ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of death, but also of organs, medical teams, or ambulances. Hundreds of flight hours are carried out each year for this type of mission by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, and the helicopters of the 15th Wing of Cervia.
