On Monday 13 September in Istres, the Eurofighter fighter jets together with the French Mirage 2000 aircraft demonstrated interoperability capabilities for Air Defense. The event, which was attended by institutional and military personnel as well as specialized media representatives in the field, saw the demonstration of a typical Air Defense mission. The pair of French aircraft simulated the interception of an unidentified aircraft, simulated by a Dassault-Dornier Alphajet, which they then handed over to the pair of Italian aircraft, two F-2000 belonging to the 36th Squadron of Gioia del Colle (Bari). After performing the identification and escort operations of the aircraft outside the area of responsibility, the F-2000s rejoined the pair of French Mirage aircraft to complete the mission. The event demonstrated the ability to interact between forces from different areas supported by a complex coordination and control activity of the mission itself.
