On Wednesday, April 6, an emergency transfer was made of a 15-day-old newborn and a one-month-old newborn. The request for transport, which became necessary to ensure immediate medical care for the patients, sent by the hospital to the Cagliari Prefectural Office, reached the Situation Room of the Air Force General Staff, which ordered the execution of the flight. The Falcon 900 aircraft of the 31st Squadron at Ciampino (Rome) landed at the military airport ‘Mario Mameli’ in Elmas-Cagliari at 14:09 local time and departed at 14:30 towards the ‘San Giusto’ airport in Pisa, where it arrived after approximately 1 hour of flight.
Subsequently, the aircraft took off towards Peretola Airport in Florence, where it arrived after 15 minutes of flight from the time of takeoff. The small patients were accompanied by their parents and were assisted during the flight by the medical staff of the Maciotta Clinic. For the transport of the one-month-old baby from Elmas to the hospital in Massa, a thermal cradle was required. Upon their arrival, the little ones were subsequently transported by ambulance to their respective hospital centers.
