The Italian aircraft deployed to Kuwait have reached the important milestone of 1,000 flight hours
The Boeing KC-767A, coming from the 8th Squadron of the 14th Wing from Pratica di Mare and part of the “Breus” Task Group, is deployed at the Abdullah Al Mubarak air base in Kuwait, and carries out air-to-air refuelling operations in support of national assets and the MESF Coalition (Middle East Stabilization Force).
The 1,000 flight hours reached by the “Predator” and the Boeing KC 767A demonstrate the commitment that the Italian deployment carries out daily in the Middle East as part of the international coalition operating in the area to curb the threat of Daesh.
Thanks to the excellent work carried out by the Italian operational and maintenance units, many Armed Forces of various countries participating in the Coalition have initiated procedures for the certification of their receiver aircraft with the Italian tanker, in order to be able to utilise its services in the specific operational context.
The Air Task Force, established in Kuwait in October 2014, conducts ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) and AAR (Air-to-Air Refuelling) operations as part of Operation “First Parthian“, established during 2014 to confront and counter the actions of Daesh. In addition to KC767 Alright Predator, the TF air force uses 4 aircraft Tornado (at the Ahmed Al Jaber air base) used for surveillance and information-gathering missions.
