Flying over the skies of Moscow for the centenary of the Russian Air Force. During the event, which drew around 100,000 visitors, the Aermacchi MB-339 aircraft of the National Aerobatic Team shared the stage with other prestigious formations, such as the British ‘Red Arrows’, the Finnish ‘Midnight Hawks’ and the ISKRI of the Polish aerobatic team. General Tiziano Tosi, Commander of the Air Force Squad, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff at the centenary celebrations, underlined that “The presence in Moscow of the Frecce Tricolori was particularly appreciated as a tangible sign of closeness between two air forces looking towards new avenues of cooperation. Proof of this is the fact that General V. N. Bondarev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force, personally expressed to the Frecce pilots his appreciation for their exceptional display on Sunday afternoon.”.
Gen. Tosi also added: “For me, having witnessed many displays by the PAN, it was both surprising and unique to observe not only the almost ”religious” silence with which the one hundred thousand spectators followed our aircrafts’ manoeuvres, but also the roar of approval and the applause that greeted the drawing of the extremely long Tricolour in the Moscow sky, created by the smoke of the final flypast. It was the best setting we could have hoped for and rewards the Italian Air Force for the efforts made to have a worthy presence in Moscow.
Heirs to the great Italian acrobatic tradition born in the 1920s in Northern Italy and developed during the post-WWII period, the ’Frecce Tricolori‘ today express Italian excellence throughout the world as the result of thorough preparation, professionalism and creativity.’The Frecce Tricolori represent an extraordinary synthesis of the perfect union of technology, creativity and professional excellence typical of our country – commented the Italian Ambassador to Moscow, Antonio Zanardi Landi”. “In this sense – continued the Ambassador – the display by the ‘Frecce Tricolori’ represents the finest preview of the promotional programme for “Today's Italian Excellences” in the Russian Federation, promoted by the Italian Government with the support of the Moscow Government and the participation of numerous famous “Made in Italy' brands”In fact, starting from 12th September and running until the first few days of January 2013, the exhibition spaces of “Krasny Oktyabr” will host Italian excellence in the energy, design, furniture, fashion and technological innovation sectors for the Russian public, showcasing the history of the very best in quality Italian production.
