The Command of the 1st Air Region hosted the Minister of Defence's conference on Monday 14th March, concerning the celebrations involving the city of Milan. The chosen venue for the conference was not by chance, as the Command of the 1st Air Region is responsible for the Joint Military Garrison, which has been tasked by the Defence Staff to organise and coordinate the various celebratory events requiring military participation, in agreement with the Municipality of Milan. During the conference, the Commander of the 1st Air Region, Air Chief Marshal Nello Barale, specified the various events involving the Armed Forces, the Guardia di Finanza and other State Corps present in the city: from the solemn Flag-Raising ceremony to be held in Piazza del Duomo on Thursday 17th March with the band of the 1st Air Region and a joint formation company, to the ceremony of the Five Days of Milan on Friday 18th, continuing on Saturday 19th with a concert at the Teatro alla Scala by the Central Band of the Carabinieri, and other musical events to be held on Sunday 20th, such as the performance of the band of the 1st Air Region, the Band of the La Spezia Navy Department and the band of the 3rd Carabinieri Regiment Lombardy in the city's symbolic locations. Of particular note is the activity of the Italian Air Force Band on the main day of the celebrations, Sunday 20th March, when the musical ensemble will honour the visit of the President of the Republic for the 150th anniversary celebrations in Milan, which will be decorated with the Tricolour flag.
