After fifty years, the “Centauro III” course has returned to the Academy From 5 to 7 November, the Centauro III Course reunion took place in Pozzuoli, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of entry into Air Force Academy.
Air Marshal Giulio Mainini, Chief of the Centauro III, led the reunion attendees who were received by the Commander of the Air Force Academy, Air Marshal Fernando Giancotti.
Among the many activities carried out during the gathering were the Flag Raising Ceremony on the Piazzale delle Medaglie d’Oro, a briefing on the Academy's activities, a guided tour of the classrooms, the SF.260-EA and AMX aircraft simulators, the historical corridors with the pennants of the five generations of academic courses, the sports facilities, and the Institute's Chapel where Holy Mass was celebrated for the occasion. Particularly poignant was the moment of remembrance for the members of the Centaur Course who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Another significant moment was the meeting with the young trainees to share with them the aeronautical values and guiding principles that inspire the activities of all members of the Armed Force: professional excellence, respect, role-modelling, dedication to service, and moral integrity (E.R.E.D.I. – SMA-ORD 001).
