Lieutenant Colonel Marco Serroni, in command of the Unit since 2010, in his farewell speech, thanked all the military and civilian personnel for the dedication, professionalism, support and closeness shown in every circumstance, as well as his Superiors for the trust shown in choosing him for such a prestigious role and, in particular, Colonel Guercio, as his direct superior who attended. Finally, he extended his best wishes to Captain Vallarelli, an experienced and competent Officer, underlining that his assumption of command coincides with the delicate moment of transformation of the historical activities of the 2nd Central Depot.
Captain Vallarelli, on taking over command, thanked the authorities present and the Armed Forces for entrusting him with this significant responsibility and the outgoing Commander for the work carried out. He then emphasised the great professionalism of the men he is about to lead, expressing the hope that they will be a true team, made up of many different skill sets.
The ceremony concluded with a speech by Colonel Guercio, who emphasised the passion and the spirit of heartfelt participation that the personnel of the 2nd Central Depot express in their daily work. He then addressed Lieutenant Colonel Serroni, highlighting his work, carried out in full response to the mission entrusted to him, whilst bearing witness to his esteem for him. Finally, he addressed Captain Vallarelli, underlining his military-technical and professional skills and wishing him to continue along the same path to achieve the results attained by his predecessor.
Lieutenant Colonel Marco Serroni will take up an international appointment in Norfolk (USA).
Captain Costantino Vallarelli was born on 20 November 1974 in Piacenza.
He joined the Italian Air Force on 15th April 1996 and attended the 103rd Auxiliary Officer Cadet Course at the Italian Air Force Application School in Florence.
In the same year, he attended the 42nd MSA Supply Service Officers' Qualification Course.
On 9 July 1996 he was assigned to the 114th Subsidiary Depot at Francavilla Fontana. On 11 November 1997 he moved to the Headquarters of the 3rd Air Region of Bari Palese.
On 4 December 1999 he was assigned to the 2nd Central Air Force Depot in Gallarate where, among his numerous duties, he also served as Director of the 2nd Central Depot.
In 2004, he attended the Quality Training course organised by UNAVIA srl based in Rome.
In 2005, at the Armed Forces Telecommunications School in Chiavari, he attended the 38th INFOSEC course and, during 2010, the 15th Advanced Training Course at the Air Force Institute of Military Sciences in Florence.
