The “Icarus One Zero” Operational Detachment returns after four months in Afghanistan. Colonel Riccardo Rinaldi, Commander of the 17th Raiders Wing, welcomed the D.O.“s return, congratulating them on their work and the high level of professionalism demonstrated, which earned them positive reviews and unanimous appreciation across all services. At the end of the brief meeting, the D.O. Commander particularly thanked the logistics component supporting ”Icarus One Zero“, i.e. those forming the so-called ”close contact team", for their availability and technical preparation shown, reaching levels that serve as an example to colleagues from other armed forces present in the operational theatre.
The 17th Raiders Wing of the Air Force continues to be engaged in all those activities that characterise the Italian Special Forces, maintaining its nature as a strategic force multiplier of national Air Power in a considerably changed international operational context, now defined by “asymmetric” threats.
