Numerous citizens took the opportunity to visit Latina Airport. In line with the celebrations organized by the Ministry of Defense on a national level, the public opening of “Comani” is an annual event that the men and women of the Settantesimo share with their fellow citizens. In particular, on November 2 and 3, from 9 am to 12 pm, the airport opened its gates to the local population to allow them to visit the facility. The public, which came in large numbers with about 800 visitors over the two days of opening, accompanied by the military personnel of the Base, was delighted to have a close look at the facilities and some aircraft provided to the Department, including the Aermacchi T.260B on static display at the Airport Control Area (CDA). Furthermore, in the “Graziani” classroom, guests attended brief briefings on the assigned mission, watched film footage, and received promotional material. During their visit, Durantela witnessed the flight activity, currently aimed at training the students of the “Pegaso V” academic course and the members of the Guardia di Finanza.
At the Pontine Department, which has been in operation for more than half a century, pilot training courses are held for the selection and training of students from the Italian Air Force, other Armed Forces and Armed Bodies of the State and of allied and friendly countries.
