A 62-year-old patient struck by myocardial ischaemia was retrieved in the early hours of Tuesday 22nd December in adverse weather conditions. The crew, consisting of Captain Dario Ricci, crew commander, Pilot Lieutenant Valerio Modugno, 1st Class Warrant Officers Massimo Cervera and Marco Lanzi, flight operators, 1st Class Warrant Officer Mario Toto, rescue specialist, and 1st Class Warrant Officer Alessandro Solustri of the Pratica di Mare Principal Infirmary, took off from the Pratica di Mare military airport at 00:40 on Tuesday 22nd December bound for Ciampino airport (Rome), where they embarked an intensive care physician and a nurse from the Tor Vergata Polyclinic in Rome. Having departed from Ciampino at 01:10 local time, the helicopter landed at the helipad on the island of Ponza (Latina) where it embarked the patient. Following urgent boarding operations and a 45-minute flight, the helicopter landed at Ciampino military airport, where an ambulance was ready and waiting for the patient's subsequent transfer to a hospital in the capital. The helicopter then returned to Pratica di Mare military airport, landing at 03:35 local time.
