First year of application of the SMA-LOG-019 Directive. Among the solutions is also the adoption of ‘car-sharing’ principles. The purpose of the directive is to define the guiding policy and application of strategies aimed at energy efficiency, the reduction of air pollution with a decrease in CO2 emissions into the environment, the rationalisation of consumption within the Armed Force, and energy self-generation through the use of renewable sources. The Italian Air Force therefore intends to outline the possible ‘Guidelines’ to be undertaken regarding ‘Consumption Containment’; all this in order to place the Air Force in a position to support this project with its own Operational and Logistic contribution, and to fulfil its commitments regarding ‘Energy and Water saving’. Among the most significant solutions, the new role of the Energy Manager is highlighted for defining actions aimed at energy saving and for creating, among other things, a mapping of current energy consumption (such as water, gas, electricity, diesel, etc.), correlated with parameters of use and infrastructure consistency (number of personnel, cubic volume, etc.), as well as diagnosing the highest energy-consuming utilities.
