The Air Squad Commander took part in the International Air and Space Fair “FIDAE 2012” held in Santiago, Chile. The event, now in its 17th edition, is the most important exhibition in Latin America in the fields of military, civil and commercial aviation, equipment, maintenance systems, homeland security and aerospace technology. During the visit, the Air Squad Commander met General Jorge Rojas, Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Air Force, General Carlos Bertens, Commander of the Combat Force Command, and General Manuel Quinones Sigala, Logistics Commander and President of FIDAE. The meetings highlighted the profound ties of friendship that have always bound the two air forces. In particular, deep interest was emphasised in the operations conducted by our Armed Forces in the skies over Libya, which saw the operational deployment of all air components, and the experience gained in the Afghan theatre. Furthermore, a firm intention to step up cooperation with the Italian Air Force was expressed. General Tosi also had the opportunity to meet the Chilean Undersecretary for Defence, General (Retd) Oscar Izurrieta, and the Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force Haidi Grant (USA). Accompanied by the delegation from the Secretariat-General of Defence and H.E. Ambassador Palladino, the Air Squad Commander visited all the Italian companies present at the Fair. Moreover, demonstrating the excellence of ’Made in Italy' products, the stands were also visited by the Chilean Minister of Defence, Senator Allamand.
