A visit to the American air base on Wednesday the 26th, by Air Squadriglia Generale Carmine Pollice, to closely observe the exercises in which the AMXs of the 51st Wing of Istrana and the 32nd Wing of Amendola are engaged. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the Commander of the Combat Forces, Air Division Generale Roberto Corsini, together with the Commander of the Autonomous Flight Department (R.A.V.), Colonel Giorgio Foltran. After attending an initial briefing, given by the commander of the R.A.V., to provide an overview of the multiple activities carried out during the Green Flag exercise and those still ongoing for Red Flag, Generale Pollice met with representatives of the other participating nations in Red Flag for the Mass Briefing, which is a detailed overview of how these complex aerial missions will unfold. The General then wished to follow some phases of the planning during the exercise closely. He then met with the personnel deployed at the American air base to personally verify the results obtained. “Prepared and trained, demonstrating that the work done in Italy was the right one, the aircraft have a very high standard and can be safely deployed in any operational theatre, however,” added Generale Pollice, “it must not be the technical aspect that decides their deployment outside of national borders, but the Chief of Defence Staff and the Minister.” Generale Pollice's visit concluded with the traditional exchange of crests with the deployed unit, expressing “the feeling of pride for having been able to personally witness what the R.A.V. personnel have achieved and are achieving, especially the commitment made to implementing their capabilities.”.
