For the first time, the Royal Air Force is training on the semi-prepared runway of the 9th Wing of the Italian Air Force in Grazzanise. In particular, the exercise was a valuable opportunity to consolidate the standard operating procedures (SOPs) followed by NATO pilots.

On the occasion of the exercise, the Wing Commander, Colonel Pilot Maurizio Cocci, stated that the two days of daytime and nighttime activity confirmed the suitability of the semi-prepared runway at Grazzanise airport as a facility particularly suited for crew training and their future deployment in areas lacking conventional runways.
The C-130J is a transport aircraft also used by the Air Force, suitable for airborne operations of paratroopers and materiel; the aircraft forms the backbone of the transport component which has grown exponentially due to the changed tasks of our country's Armed Forces, which have seen the natural projection of their mission in service of defence and security through deployment outside national borders. The 9th Wing at Grazzanise (CE) ensures air support for Special Forces (F.S.) or Special Operations Forces (F.O.S.) Units and Bodies, both for deployment and withdrawal phases in operational theatres, as well as Combat S.A.R. (Search and Rescue) operations. RAF.MOD.UK – AERONAUTICA MILITARE – Thank you Grazzanise
