The solemn ceremony in honour of the Loreto Virgin was held at Villafranca Cathedral.
The event was presided over by the Commander of the 3rd Wing and Air Force Garrison of Verona, Colonel Marco Maistrello, by the Mayor of Villafranca, and by numerous other civil and military authorities.
Also present at the ceremony were the Commanders of the other units of the Verona Air Force Garrison: the Director of the Main Infirmary of Villafranca, Colonel Dario Di Blasio, the Commander of the 27th Field Engineer Group, Colonel Pasquale Bizzarro, and the Commander of the 112th Support Depot of Sanguinetto, Lieutenant Colonel Marco Metrano. Also in attendance were the Standards of the Veterans' and Service Associations and the Flag of the city of Villafranca. Among the most emotional moments were the homily by Monsignor Zenti, the reading of the Aviator's Prayer, and the speech by Colonel Maistrello.
The Duomo, a 18th-century copy of the Redentore in Venice's Giudecca district, stands in the centre of Villafranca and was consecrated in 1882.
