An AB-212 helicopter of the 670th Decimomannu Squadron transported a team of the Alpine Rescue Service. The crew of the 670th S.C.S., alerted by the Air Operations Command (C.O.A.) in Poggio Renatico (FE) at 18:15, took off towards Urzulei (NU) to board, at the sports field, a team of the Alpine Rescue Service. Immediately afterwards, the helicopter took off again to reach the operations area where the emergency team that had provided first aid to the injured hiker was stationed. Due to the rugged terrain and the sudden change in weather conditions, the 670th S.C.S. helicopter had to return to the base. The transport to the nearby hospital in Nuoro was therefore carried out by an ambulance of the 118th Emergency Medical Service.
