The students of the “Espero” course visited the Air Academy of Pozzuoli and the Pratica di Mare Airport. The educational trips to the Departments of the Air Force, planned as part of the School’s Training Offer Plan, have a dual purpose: on the one hand, providing students with adequate knowledge of the history and organization of the Armed Forces, and on the other hand, enhancing their passion and culture for aeronautical life.
During their stay at the Academy, the students had the opportunity to visit the facilities and equipment used daily by Officer Trainees, from sports facilities to classrooms, where the degree courses are held, from the engine room to the SF-260 aircraft simulator. It was this last one that sparked the enthusiasm of the young guests, who also had the opportunity to witness some demonstration missions.
The time spent in Pozzuoli also allowed them to visit some particularly significant places in the Naples region, including the Royal Palace of Capodimonte, the Caserta Palace and Castel Nuovo.
Equally engaging was the visit to the Military Airport of Pratica di Mare, where the students visited the Experimental Flight Center. Welcomed by the Center’s Commander, Air Division General Fabio Molteni, the young guests had the opportunity to witness laboratory tests of various types at the Chemical Department and subsequently to admire some aircraft in flight, including the brand new MB-346.
The visit then continued at the 85th Combat/S.A.R. (Search and Rescue) Center of the 15th Stormo, where the students were able to appreciate the operational capabilities of the Department, the HH-3F and NH 500 helicopters, and the equipment provided to the air rescue crews.
The day concluded with the greeting of the Commander of the Pratica di Mare Air Command, Brigadier General Roberto Quattrociocchi, who wished the young trainees continued success and achievements in their aeronautical careers.
