A well-established ceremony that symbolically seals the passing on of traditions and shared values from the Cadets of the Air Force Academy. The ceremony, which took place on Tuesday 20th December at the Air Force Academy in Pozzuoli, was attended by the course sponsor, Air Chief Marshal Mario Renzo Ottone, the Logistics Commander, Air Chief Marshal Maurizio Lodovisi, the Commander of the Air Force Schools/3rd Air Force Region, Major General Vitantonio Cormio, and the Heads of Corps and Weapon Arms Roles.
The “spadino,” a centenary symbol of belonging to a military training school, is handed over to the first-year Cadets by those in their third year; with this significant gesture, the passing of shared traditions and values, generation after generation, from those attending the Air Force Academy symbolically takes place.
In the evening, the “Pingue” party finally took place, the much-anticipated jape during which the senior class, “Nibbio V” this year, welcomed the “Pingui” into academic life.
