On Tuesday, June 12, the Deputy Commander of the Air Force, Air Force General Carlo Magrassi, paid a visit to the ReSMA in Vigna di Valle. The staff on duty had the opportunity to detail to the Deputy Commander of the Air Force their duties and responsibilities, ranging from meteorological observation in its many aspects, including qualitative ones, to the activity of testing instruments and measuring methods. This latter activity, which often takes place in synergy with industrial and research entities, is one of the main tasks of the Department and is necessary in order for the Meteorological Service of the A.M. to provide an increasingly effective support service for air navigation, especially in terms of flight safety. At the end of the visit, the ceremonial delivery of the Crest took place with the signing of the Honor Roll of the Department near the experimental area. In that circumstance, General Magrassi wanted to add his appreciation for the activities carried out at ReSMA, stating that he had found “a lot of competence and enthusiasm”.
The Vigna di Valle King SMA, present on the territory for a hundred years with the task of ensuring the quality of meteorological observations and maintaining international standards, is subordinate to the National Center for Meteorology and Aeronautical Climatology (CNMCA) in Pratica di Mare, which in turn is subordinate to the Air Force Command.
