The event took place as part of the 2013 Cooperation Plan
The delegation, led by the Commander of the RSAF Training Command, Colonel Lim Kok Siong, was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Filippo Nannelli, representing Colonel Sergio Cavuoti, Commander of the 61st Wing, who gave a presentation briefing on the activities of the Salento Flight School, which is increasingly engaged in a complex internationalisation process aimed at establishing it as a point of reference for advanced flight training, even within a multinational context.
During the briefing, an update was given on the training of the Singaporean student pilots at the Salento air base.
Subsequently, a short tour of the Base took place, during which the delegation was able to appreciate, among other things, the flight simulators for the T339 aircraft and the operation of the computerised Reception, Processing and Simulation (R.E.S.) system for high-performance flight parameters, used for the analysis and debriefing of pre-operational training missions (Lead-in Fighter Program).
The event, which further strengthened cooperation activities between the two countries, concluded with the traditional exchange of commemorative items.
The primary mission of the 61st Wing is to provide flight training for student pilots to obtain their Military Pilot Licence.
Furthermore, at the Flight School, advanced training courses are also conducted for military pilots and navigators destined for operational deployment on fighter aircraft, as well as qualification and habilitation courses for all jet flight instructors of the Armed Force.
