The deployments fall within the scope of bilateral cooperation with Mediterranean countries. The 82nd Centre deployed to both Egypt and Tunisia with an HH-3F helicopter and a full crew to carry out day and night SAR missions aimed at enhancing cooperation with the air forces of the two North African countries. Of particular significance is the coordination of search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean, given the continuous migration flows which see hundreds of immigrants crossing the ’Mare Nostrum‘. The 82nd Centre of the 15th CSAR Wing ensures, alongside the other three Centres (82nd, 83rd and 84th), 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the search and rescue of flight crews and maritime vessels in difficulty, as well as public utility activities, such as the search for missing persons in the mountains or at sea, emergency medical transport of patients in imminent danger of life (from islands, boats, etc.), and the rescue of severely traumatised individuals.
