The HH-3F aircraft of the 15th Stormo are still deployed to reach the areas most affected by the weather emergency. Two HH-3F helicopters have taken off from the bases of Cervia and Pratica di Mare to carry out two different missions: reaching the Fano Valley and the Monte Schialambra (Frosinone) respectively.
The aircraft of the 83rd Group C/SAR, with personnel from the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps (CNSAS) on board, reached the area of Fano and, after conducting numerous overflights over the more isolated areas, without finding any particular criticality, returned to base. The second helicopter of the 85th Group C/SAR took off from Pratica di Mare to provide assistance to a sick person and his family who had been isolated since last Friday in the Ernici mountains area. The difficult weather conditions prevented the helicopter from landing, and it was necessary to recover the patient using a winch for the subsequent transfer to the airport of Frosinone, where an ambulance from the nearby civil hospital was waiting to take him for the necessary treatment.
The 15th Air Wing is the branch of the Air Force that is responsible for providing search and rescue services.
The Department covers the entire national territory with its helicopters, with Centers located in Cervia, Pratica di Mare, Trapani and Brindisi. The rescue capabilities of its crews and vehicles are constantly at the service of the civilian population, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
