Significant recognition in the air transport sector awarded to General Preziosa by the Demetra Study Centre The award, established by the Demetra Study Centre to promote the air transport sector, is in its eighth edition.
The jury that awarded the prize was chaired by the President of the Demetra Study Centre, Pierluigi Di Palma, and comprised Senator Marco Filippi, the Head of Cabinet of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Giacomo Aiello, the President of ENAC, Vito Riggio, and the secretary of the Scientific Committee of the Demetra Study Centre, Ascenzo Forte.
These are the reasons for the award:
“General Pasquale Preziosa, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, a military pilot since 1976 with over 2300 flight hours to his name, is today recognised as an authoritative and undisputed point of reference in the aerospace world, thanks to his extensive experience gained in institutional roles and the importance attributed to civil-military synergies. This world is increasingly characterised by a dual approach, capable of offering significant development opportunities on a technical, scientific, productive and employment level. The Air Force, which he represents, with its Frecce Tricolori (Tricolour Arrows aerobatic team), brings global prestige to the many excellences of our country, and helps to bring the general public closer to the world of aviation, while at the same time promoting ”Made in Italy" and its professionals. Furthermore, the meticulousness and attention shown in the training of Air Force Officers contribute to the selection of the best astronauts, who are internationally appreciated for their undisputed capabilities. Thus, A.M. Colonel Roberto Vittori is considered the standard-bearer for space, Major Luca Parmitano has assumed the important role of ambassador for the Italian presidency of the Council of the European Union during its term, and Captain Samantha Cristoforetti will be Italy's first female astronaut, as well as the only woman in the European astronaut corps. In any case, with regard to all of this, General Pasquale Preziosa's human qualities prevail. Despite his reserved nature, these emerged in the great sensitivity he demonstrated in the affair of our two Marines, where he played a leading role in his previous capacity as Chief of Cabinet of the Minister of Defence.”
In expressing his gratitude for the recognition, General Preziosa stressed how “the synergy between the various state institutions” is taking on an increasingly fundamental role, such as the Air Force and ENAC, “to achieve ever higher levels both nationally and in the European and global arenas.”.
