At the seminar, held at the Center for Didactic and Managerial Training in Florence, General of the Air Force Mario Renzo Ottone intervened. The seminar, a natural continuation of the first two editions that focused on individual development leadership models and experiential methodologies for group growth, had a dual objective: to deepen the topics related to mentoring and leadership as a factor of organizational growth and to outline guidelines and tools for the training of the skills themselves.
Following a logical path that starts with the individual, passes through the group, and reaches the organization, specific documents were produced, to be submitted for evaluation by the Higher Authorities, aimed at having a comprehensive view of the concept of leadership and the related methods of dissemination and sharing.
In this direction, the contributions of thought offered by experts from the national and international civil sector, as well as the testimonies from the Armed Forces, including that of Air Force General Mario Renzo Ottone, Commander of the Air Force Schools/3rd Air Region, and that of Air Division General Pietro Valente, Commander of the Institute of Military Aeronautics Sciences, have enabled the participants to address various aspects related to the objective of the seminar.
The intervention of General Ottone, in particular, on the topic of “Leadership and the recent Unified Protector operation in Libya“It highlighted the strong correlation between the concept of leadership and the daily operational activities, and consequently the need to design and develop this competence that is increasingly oriented towards and adapted to operational activities.
General of the Air Division Pietro Valente, in turn, in the opening and closing speeches of the seminar, emphasized the importance of leadership competence in the training of the senior leadership of the Armed Forces. Specifically, General Valente referred to the need to provide training sessions throughout the military career that specifically address both internal leadership based on values and morality, and leadership of change aimed at leaving one’s workplace always better than the initial situation.
The Didactic and Management Training Center in Florence, in addition to training trainers, managerial training, and e-learning training, has been identified as the “focal point” of the Air Force for the development of leadership competencies.
