Six officers and two NCOs from the Air Force have qualified as “Area Radar” air traffic controllers. The qualified personnel will be employed at the four Air Force Coordination and Control Services (SCCAM) responsible for managing operational air traffic. The course lasted three months, during which attendees completed a very intensive training programme, particularly concerning radar simulation, where complex air traffic management scenarios were recreated for both general air traffic and operational air traffic.

Lieutenant Colonel Gianluca Dell’Aere, Chairman of the Examination Board and Commander of the Coordination and Control Service of Abano Terme (Padova), while congratulating the attendees on the excellent results achieved, highlighted the effectiveness of the training programmes used for the Radar courses held at RACSA, emphasizing their full adherence to real operational scenarios. RACSA is the Italian Air Force department responsible for training Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers assigned to Airspace Control, who, depending on their specialisation, are employed as Air Traffic or Air Defence Controllers.
