Award for the best presentation given by students as part of the “Future Observers” project”
The project, carried out with the collaboration of the Cultural Association “The New Agone”It is fully integrated into the school curriculum, having developed through an initial conference at the school and a series of visits by students to the ReSMA meteorological station. The children assisted the station operator in their daily work of measuring atmospheric parameters, recording, compiling, and centralising bulletins. All activities were conceived with the aim of providing the children with a simple and concrete basic knowledge of meteorology, with particular attention to the type of work carried out by meteorological operators and the direct and indirect impacts of this work on the environment and human activities. For this very reason, students were invited to create presentations by putting themselves in the aforementioned role.
In his award speech, Colonel Spuri highlighted how such projects, always enthusiastically promoted and supported by the ReSMA, have the primary aim of making knowledge a heritage for all, particularly for new generations. In this regard, precisely with the collaboration of the students themselves, a video relating to the Department's collaborative and outreach activities with local schools was made at the ReSMA and screened during the ceremony.
The Head Teacher of the Institute, Ing. Carlo Turchetti, and the President of the cultural association “The New Agone”The event concluded with a mention of the Director, Dr. Giovanni Furgiuele, who wished to thank the Air Force for the support provided to the initiative and praised the winners for their great commitment and extreme interest in meteorology and its implications, including in terms of air navigation safety. The significant ceremony ended with the presentation of certificates of participation to all students involved in the project by Eng. Antonella Galderisi, and the presentation of the ReSMA crest to the Aeronautical Institute, with the hope of continuing with other similar collaborations in the coming years.
For a hundred years, ReSMA has been present in the region with the task of ensuring the quality control of meteorological observations for the Italian Air Force and maintaining international standards. As part of activities dedicated to promoting the Armed Force, it also carries out meteorological dissemination at schools, with the aim of helping young people better understand the influence of meteorological factors on the biosphere and to raise their awareness regarding environmental issues.
