In the presence of Air Force General Salvestroni, Deputy Commander of the CSA, Colonel Esposito took over from Colonel Loconsole. Colonel Loconsole, in his speech, highlighted how, thanks to the professionalism and motivation of the staff, the Unit had managed during his period of command to conduct a total of 76 courses, qualifying 896 attendees, including those from foreign countries. Over 1500 hours of external lessons were carried out for Training Bodies of the Armed Forces, Joint Forces, Civil Protection, the Guardia di Finanza, the Fire and Rescue Corps, and the Forestry Corps; furthermore, English language proficiency assessment tests were administered to over 900 air traffic controllers.
Concluding his speech, the outgoing Commander also stressed that the definition and application of the Quality Management Manual in compliance with UNI ISO 9001:200 standards and the development of the e-learning platform for distance teaching activities have placed RACSA in a prominent position regarding its future training offerings.
Colonel Esposito, in his speech, expressed his intention to continue investing in human resources, which are fundamental to our organisation, to ensure that the Department can maintain, if not enhance, its important role as a Training Hub in the field of air traffic control and meteorology.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, General Salvestroni, highlighting the extreme importance of the activity carried out by RACSA, thanked Colonel Loconsole for the work done and for the brilliant results achieved by the Department, then offering his best wishes to Colonel Esposito for this important position of responsibility.
The RACSA, dependent on the Rome Air Squad Command, is the Training Centre of the Italian Air Force responsible for training Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers from all Armed Forces assigned to Airspace Control, Air Traffic Control, and Air Defence, as well as personnel employed in the Meteorology Service. Furthermore, RACSA conducts the “Technical Proficiency Test” (T.P.T.) for English language competence, which is necessary for Air Traffic Control/Air Defence controllers to perform Airspace Management duties.
