General Pasquale Preziosa congratulates the Master World Athletics Champion
Mr Ottaviani, who served in the Air Force in Turin during the Second World War, won an impressive 10 Gold Medals at the M95 Masters Athletics World Championships in Budapest, also setting a world record in the triple jump. One of these medals was donated to General Preziosa as a memento of his happy past experience with the Air Force and the deep bond he has always had with the Armed Forces.
Particularly moved, Mr Ottaviani wished to underline how the Italian Air Force had always been a great family to him, a feeling that, after some time, was also confirmed during this meeting with the Chief of Staff. “The secret to longevity lies in being in constant motion,” declared the champion, "training the mind with curiosity and the body with constant physical activity."
General Preziosa presented the tracksuit issued to nationally prominent athletes of the Air Force to a former Airman, a long-standing example of commitment, determination, and loyalty, in sport and in life; those same values that also characterise the figure of a soldier.
