The blood bags collected will be used for the young patients of the Paediatric Oncology Department of the Santobono Pausilipon Health Authority in Naples.
The medical team of the Paediatric Oncology Department at the Santobono Pausilipon Healthcare Trust in Naples, coordinated by Dr Giovanni Iannoni, carried out about 120 collections in the Institute's infirmary from just as many attendees who enthusiastically and generously took part in the initiative, aware that donating blood costs nothing and a life can be saved in a few minutes.
The collected blood bags will be used for the young patients of the Neapolitan paediatric hospital, during the summer period, which is particularly critical due to a shortage of donors. Indeed, the “Santobono-Pausilipon” hospital caters for the healthcare needs of paediatric patients, ensuring preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitative services. The Air Force Academy is a military institute of higher university education tasked with recruiting and training young people who aspire to become regular service officers in the Italian Air Force. By attending the regular courses at the Academy, one can become a Sub-Lieutenant in the Air Force, within the regular Navigating branch (pilots) and the Regular branches of the Weapons, the Aeronautical Engineers, the Aeronautical Supply Corps, and the Aeronautical Medical Corps.
