Educational visit to learn about the activities carried out at the Air Terminal Operation Centre in Brindisi The visit aimed to take stock of the reality of the Air Terminal Operation Centre (ATOC) recently established at the Salento Department, which, according to the course coordinator, is a significant facility from a didactic point of view for those attending the course. At the ATOC hangar, immediately after receiving instructions on the activities carried out by the “Movement & Transport” (M&T) staff, the visitors were able to witness live the preparation according to standards and regulations for air transport of a cargo pallet (pallet) containing humanitarian aid destined for the Filipino population. The Brindisi detachment, under the command of the Logistics Command, provides support for the “peacekeeping” operations of the United Nations Global Service Center (UNGSC) and the “humanitarian” operations of the United Nations Humanitarian Emergency Response Base (UNHRD).
It also provides 24/7 support for civil air navigation services, for NATO-affiliated transit aircraft, and performs the functions of Air Guard Command by providing logistical and administrative support to the Armed Forces Agencies in the Brindisi area.
